Gangotri is a religious town situated in the heart of Uttarkashi district in the state of Uttarakhand. The town is lies on the bank of Bhagirathi River. Kharsali village is the winter seat of Goddess Ganga. During the winters due to heavy Snowfall when the roads are blocked and the temple is not accessible to reach then the idol of Goddess Ganga is transferred to Khaesali for the next six months. Bhojbasa, Gangnani, Bhaironghati, Jalmagan Shivlinga, Harsil, Surya kund etc are the other major attraction of the place. Every year thousands of the devotees visit this shrine during the month of May to July and again September to October. There are lots of Ashrams and hotels provide good accommodations. The Destinations is well connected by the Air, Railway and Road connectivity. Taxis and Buses are easily available to reach Gangotri.
